Just finished my seventh day in a row at work, putting in 69 hours in total for the 7 days. That’s almost 10 hours a day. Needless to say, I haven’t had any time to write. But as I mentioned on Wednesday I did get a chance to do an interview with Ryan Doyle on CFRB1010, which was an interesting experience. I was a little concerned that I would not be able to parlay my written skills into something coherent for a spoken medium, but the producer said it went very well. I’d offer you a link, but unfortunately it appears CFRB doesn’t provide listening archives.
The good news is that I do have time to share a few articles tonight, but unfortunately the bad news is that I’m back at the grind Monday without any rest days, so you can expect further intermittent posting.
I was reading through the news headlines this evening and came across an article in which a convicted sex criminal’s treatment is being protested by his “friend”. Max Setter, 30, was convicted in 1999 of attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault for a 1995 attack on a seven-year-old girl in B.C. The little girl was found unconscious, partially hidden by a fallen tree, and had been bludgeoned by a rock. Max’s DNA was found at the crotch of the girl’s pants. The victim, who is now 21, was left permanently brain-damaged with the mental capacity of a five-year-old child. But his “friend” says Max is no longer a threat:
The man who abused and nearly blugeoned to death a seven-year-old girl is being targeted unfairly by the community, says a close female friend.
The woman, who doesn’t want to be identified, has known Mackenzie (Max) Setter, 30, for more than two decades, and said he’s changed his ways since brutalizing the girl 14 years ago.
“He was 16-years-old then, he was under the influence and hanging out with the wrong crowds,” said his friend.
That’s quite the friend. She’ll vouch for you, but only anonymously.
Personally, I think Max is getting a pretty decent deal in all of this, regardless of what his media shy friend thinks. After all, the victim got a life sentence for the crime, whereas the criminal walks free with his mental faculties and self-awareness fully intact.

I knew Max Setter when he lived in Tumbler. He used to live directly behind me. he was extremely dangerous way back then. The girl that says Max was hanging with the wrong crowd of kids really and truly did not know Max or his brother Shawnessy. Most of the kids in that town new that both these boys were physco’s and wanted nothing to do with them. they were both loners as kids all over that town were afraid of them. Shawnessy is just as dangerous as his Brother. Max had attacked other girls in that town. His father was abusive and the Mother was out of the picture. Max wont stop the next child that falls victom to him will die.
