Omar Khadr: Portrait Of A Victim

Young Mr.Khadr must certainly have the best public relations people in the business, because if he were a brand I’m sure I would have no trouble recognizing it in the supermarket. It seems as though every day there’s something new to report on Omar Khadr, the Canadian apprentice of terrorism caught at 15 years-old training with the Taliban in Afghanistan. On this day, we learn about how Mr.Khadr’s rights were violated in Guantanamo Bay, and that CSIS ignored them by not taking into account his youth and interrogating him after sleep deprivation sessions. A report from the security intelligence review committee [SIRC], a non-affiliated government committee that monitors CSIS, found that the intelligence agency needs to “adapt” to the more recent phenomenon of youth radicalization:

However, the report did not find that CSIS was complicit in Khadr’s alleged torture at the hands of U.S. interrogators.

The committee recommended that CSIS take human-rights issues into consideration in future probes and also establish a policy framework to guide its dealings with young people.

“As part of this, the service should ensure that such interactions are guided by the same principles that are entrenched in Canadian and international law,” the SIRC report said.

It’s funny. I don’t recall the Omar Khadr case being front and centre in the news during the days when the Liberals were in power. Both Jean Chretien and Paul Martin had the same opportunity as the Conservative government to ask for Omar Khadr’s release, yet they did not. But ever since 2006 rolled around, it’s become one of the favourite topics for discussion among those who self-identify as Liberal voters, and flogged in the media for partisan political points.

Let’s ignore for a moment that even though the government could formally request the United States to release Mr.Khadr, that such an endeavour would be merely symbolic at best, as the Americans continue to build a trial against the accused. Let’s even ignore the fact that young Omar was captured by the Americans while fighting with a radical enemy of the western world, and one that is ideologically and militarily aligned with al-Qaeda. Since many people would simply say that Omar Khadr was just a “child soldier”, or some similar such nonsense about his juvenile age, he bears no responsibility for his actions, and thus arguing about it seems fruitless.

What I’d like people to do then, is imagine what Canada would want to do with an American version of Omar sitting in a Canadian jail cell. What would we, the citizens of Canada, demand from our government in the case of a young American captured fighting with the Taliban, and suspected of killing one of our own soldiers? Wouldn’t we want our government to exhaust all legal avenues to find a way to hold him accountable for his crimes? Wouldn’t we demand justice for a soldier who died in the line of duty, senselessly killed by a person who by all rights should have been an ally?

We seem to hold Omar Khadr’s “human rights” on a rather lofty height, despite all he’s done to disinherit others of their own “human rights” when he fought and trained under al-Qaeda and the Taliban. We seem to forget the soldier he is accused of murdering; in fact, one can’t even find the soldier’s name in most articles about Omar. It’s Sergeant First Class Christopher James Speer. What happened to his rights, or the rights of his survivors?

The fact is, the government is doing exactly what most Canadians think they should be doing.

Because of all the BS involved with Khadr I would hope that if it was the scenario of our soldiers encountering an American fighting for terrorists and wounding him that they would let him bleed out in the field. Unfortunately our medics would save his useless hide as did the US medics with Khadr. Unfortunate at times.

I noticed they trotted out the usual leftists to bleat for this man tonight on the CBC..Attaran and Rae..

It’s amazing how much they care for the process, instead of the actions of Khadr.

Khadr and his family can rot in hell for all I care..

The Khadr females were on a CBC special about Al Qeada and they praised the 9/11 hijackers for slaughtering 24 of our fellow Canadian civilians because we’re “friends of the Jews” that control the West .
They are on record in the DVD video as hoping that the Khadr Klan Kids will die as martyrs while killing more canadians .
Meanwhile in the Toronto School system if a teacher suspect a child may have a bruise or body mark from being hit by the parent, the Police are call and the CAS to hual the parents into a Courtroom on “Alleged/fabricate” claims of Child-abuse .

Amazing isn’t it , the Liberals do squat about the Assumtion of guilt for parents accused of hitting their child, and say squat about men being changed by Police when a scorn wife Alleges physical abuse to have the man removed from the house or deny access to his children.

BUT…..the Khadr’s can use the CBC to admit they want to Murder Canadians via martyr’s during a suicide-bombing mission that may even be right on our soil AND NOTING HAPPENS TO THEM NOR IS THE CAS CALLED TO REMOVE THE CHILDREN FROM THIS TOXIC HOME THAT PROMOTES MASS MURDER OF CIVILIANS.

As for the Torture claim in GITMO , the “Sleep deprivation” definition was used at the Arar Inquiry and THAT’S the only claim of Torture that Justice O’Connor refered to as set-out in the pre-Inquiry scope for what evidence could be reviewed.
It that is Torture…… than I want Amnesty Internation to protest the City of Toronto when they send jack-Hammers and diesel generators to my Street at 7:00 am while I’m on holidays and having a StayCation at home but can’t get
a nap or just relax with soft music playing.

    BTW
It’s so funny to see Arar and Khadr call each other a Liar about the Afghanistan Jihad training camps.
The Lefists in Canada that support Khadr claim that he was Tortured into admitting he was in Afghanistan ,and the Arar supports claim Omar was Tortured to say that Arar was at the Jihad camps .
They are both weasels and bald face liars , and the latest report about the Arar’s is that their Ruse to move to B.C. with their $$$Million and get over the trauma has come to an end and they are now back in Ottawa near the same Jihad friendly Mosque and Maher himself told the media that he wants passports and Visa to take his kids to Saudi Arabia for further emersion into the Whahabbi islamic teachings.
What a joke when his wife teamed-up with Alexa McDonough and the Hams friendly CAIR canada to fight for Human Rights , now Maher wants to drag his wife back to the 14th century where she’s FORCED to wear the full-covered Black gown in saudi Arabia .
Just watch how fast the Arar’s want to be rescued AGAIN if she breaks the laws for Sharia and the Thought Police arrest her to be whipped in public or Tortured in jail as William Sampson was under the Liberals that did squat to free him.
We were screwed folks, the Arar’s went Globe-trotting and got caught in Tunis by the State security because the relative they now Lived with had ties to the Palestinian Resistance and the Muslim Brotherhood. When the Police closed in it was Maher who ran to the closest Airport to flee to the USA and meet-up with Nihad Awad from CAIR in New York city, but Arar flew by himself on a canadian passport and was Denied entry to the USA at JFK because the FBI had tied Arar to the Radical Mosque in Boston that Arar attended prior to 9/11 when he had a second home near the Boston Airport .

One day someone will write a book that exposes the big lies by CAIR and the Islamist thugs in canada that fooled the useless idiots at the CBC , Arar’s own statement from 2003 is still on the CBC archives and Arar blames JORDAN for his Torture during the 2 weeks before Kidnappers drove him to his homeland of Syria for a Military Trial as a Draft Dodger who fled Syria at 17 to avoid service.

I can assure you that I would demand the same thing that I demand for Omar. That he be treated as a child soldier in accordance to the international treaties we have signed. I would also like to hold accountable the people that recruited the child soldier.

But you are correct in stating that the Liberals share the blame here. They had a chance to do the right thing when in power and they chose not too.

“It’s amazing how much they care for the process, instead of the actions”

It’s amazing that you persist in your abandonment of due process with nearly every post. Caring more about the process than the actions of an accused person is precisely why due process is so important. When you start dismissing people as “not worthy of due process”, the next thing you know, nobody gets due process. That’s just a sad fact of history.

  7. Roger Says:

    Peter :

So even if Omar had murdered your Mother you would still want the exact rules to be followed?

Thank God my Mother and Sisters aren’t relying on people like you to protect them , you seem like the type that would sit-back and let them be raped and killed because it’s not fair to pre-judge someone .
The Charter assumes everyone is Innocent until proven Guilty and who are we to act on our feelings when the attackers hans’t officially Murdered my Sisters yet.

Interesting World you live in,the Police mus hold a trial to get the Judge to agree that the evidence warrants an arrest to have a trial.
Just think of all the money we would save once we get rid of Prisons and the Police forces.
